It’s something I have to watch for.Īs a FYI if you start to lose some of you functionality you may want to change batteries first. I was using check radio shack ones so that could have been the problem. One thing I noticed is it sucked the first pair of batteries and I had remote for about a month. I do have to admit the buttons are small, if they were larger the remote would be pushing the large side, after a while a got use to it and don’t even notice it. When changing the volume it knows to use the receiver not the TV. I love the fact that it turns on the TV, my receiver cable box and sets it too input2. USAGE: The macros at the top watch TV, listen to music etc work really well. It did take about 3 days to figure out which buttons I was missing and which ones needed to be programmed so for me at least, I had to put in some time. The good news is once I put the effort in I have about 90% of all the buttons on all the remotes working more importantly I have all the main important ones working. Then you have to test it, my computer is in a different room and go back and forth until it worked. What made it worst was the digital cable box remote was generic and I had to program almost everything manually. It didn’t recognize all of my devices and I had to manually teach the remote buttons on my DVD player and also my digital cable remote. still not sure about custom button setup the display constantly stays on draining batteries little to none when it comes to instuctions macros at top of the remote work really well. no delay between input on remote and result on the device The reviewer has used this remote control for 1-3 months. Other than the Tivo remote they had never operated any other devices using a remote (DirectTV, DVD, VHS, Radio) In fact, it works so well I've forgotten where the orginal remotes for some of my hardware is stowed.Ī year ago I bought a second 688 and bought and setup an 880 for a relative. It consistently switches between TV, DVD, Tivo, VHS, Radio, and PS2 without error. With the exception of erratic behaviour as the batteries become low, and difficult to press 7 and 9 keys on the number pad, I have found this remote to satisfy my needs.Įveryone seems to be able to pick up the remote and figure out how to use it. While the first week or so with Harmony remotes is overshadowed by the setup process, living with this remote has been easy. As an owner I couldn't imagine going back. When I first heard of the Harmony remotes I was intrigued. Also, because I was disappointed by the previous universal remotes I had used in the past. I orginally purchased this remote to quiet my vistors complaints over the number of remotes in my den. Various inexpensive Sony, RCA, and All4One remotes I have most activities set up to work in either of the two zones (living room and bedroom) with all of the main equipment (via a remote extender) but with control of the TV local to the zone I'm in - or to track across both zones at the same time. Additional activities can be created, and auxiliary equipment can be added to existing activities (e.g., using the TV to display the CD or XM-radio programming). The on-line programming takes a list of equipment model numbers and suggests a set of activities possible with that equipment. My remote supports a full rack of audio-visual equipment (not quite a "theater") and two zones of video and audio - both fully customizable. However, it's still faster than attempting to program any other universal remote with the same degree of complexity. The on-line programming is a bit tedious and often redundant, and the downloads proceed slowly. The library of supported equipment is very large and quite current. This (and the entire Harmony line) is an incredibly flexible universal remote. Very flexible, easy to use, easy to program, automatically creates logical connections between equipment and activities possible with that equipment.Ī bit pricey, the web site occasionally hangs up, and LogiTech's support hasn't been as good as Harmony's. Numerous universal remotes, Sony RM-VL900, several early Harmony models, and just about every All-In-One. Review 13 made on Saturday Novemat 6:53 PM. The reviewer has used this remote control for more than two years.
